Bioprocess Development for Novel Functional Lipid Production: Screening and Analysis of Microbial Metabolisms and Enzymes
Closed
Date:
July 29, 2020
Time:
12:00 PM - 1:00 PM

Recorded on: July 29, 2020
12:00 noon CDT
Presenter: Jun Ogawa, Professor at the Division of Applied Life Sciences, Graduate School of Agriculture, Kyoto University

Microorganisms are promising as producers of functional lipids such as polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) and as catalysts transforming them into various molecular species with novel bioactivities. In this webinar, you will learn about examples of polyunsaturated fatty acid (PUFA)-containing lipid fermentation, enzymatic transformation of PUFA, lipid biotechnology of gut microorganisms. Further, the current status of lipid biotechnology in relation to applied microbiology as well as future trends and promising technologies in lipid biotechnology will be discussed.

Presenter:
Jun Ogawa is a Professor at the Division of Applied Life Sciences, Graduate School of Agriculture, Kyoto University since 2009. He studied fermentation physiology and applied microbiology and completed his doctorate in 1995 at Kyoto University. Professor Ogawa has published over 250...
